Mission Statement

For many years the Deaf community has fought to attain equal access; something many of us take for granted. With the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990, it seemed equal access had finally arrived for our fellow Deaf Americans. Unfortunately, equal access had arrived mainly for those Deaf fortunate enough to live in densely populated areas where a variety of interpreters could be found. Until now, many Deaf people in rural communities have continued to struggle despite the ADA Laws of 1990. With few qualified sign language interpreters available, Deaf people have struggled to understand spoken and written language.

signingIt is the goal of Hands for Hire to alleviate the Deaf community's struggle for equal access, particularly in Southern New Jersey by providing culturally sensitive and linguistically correct interpreting services. Serving as a link between the Deaf and hearing communities, Hands for Hire can also provide the hearing community equal access into Deaf culture by providing education and consulting services.

Hands for Hire has meant communication equalization since 2000.
